Meet Richard Arnold

From jewelry to welding

Richard made jewelry for 40 years before he started 3D Custom Welding, and he brought a jeweler's eye for detail to work the size of a staircase. He'd hired enough contractors over the years to know how his own business should work: you talk to Richard directly, and you agree on the job before it starts.

The welding business started with a staircase. Richard built a custom curved staircase, and a contractor friend who saw it told him he only knew three people who could do that kind of work. Richard's answer was, "Well, make that four." He's been busy ever since.

Before welding, he served in the Air Force working on electrical and radar systems. He's also a commercial pilot, and has flown hot air balloons that carry 20 passengers.

How he works

Show him a drawing, a sketch or the piece you want copied. He'll talk through the metal and the finish with you, and come out to measure if the job needs it.

For a repair, he'll look at what's there and tell you what can be saved and what can't. Either way you get a free estimate before anything is booked.
